Kovu's rescue mission

I sketched kovu on paper, before live tracing him into illustrator to do the rest of the work on him; apart from the flames and smoke, which were done in photoshop.

The most frustrating and tedious issue with creating this piece was getting rid of all the pencil sketch marks (it was a real mess D: ), which basically meant I had to go over the sketch with the pen tool in photoshop. That's why I sincerely hope to get a wacom tablet.


This depiction of Kovu is from an early part of the movie when he is conducting his mother's evil plot to save Kiara, join simba's pride to eventually kill him.
